Shanna is the Program Manager of the Center for Early Childhood Studies at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ.  She has been in the field of early education and care for 31 years, working in California, Massachusetts and now Arizona.  Shanna spent the first 24 years of her carrer as an assistant teacher, a teacher, and as a director.  She has worked in for-profit, non-profit, parent cooperative and religious programs.  This diversity of perspective informs her belief that there are many roads to high quality experiences for young children.  Since 2007 she has worked in the zone where higher education and early education meet, supporting early childhood college students in completing associate degrees and transferring to bachelor's degree programs.   Shanna seeks to be impactful at both the individual and the the systems level.  She was first introduced to NAEYC by one of her community college instructors in 1984.  NAEYC has been an ongoing support for her professional development and leadership experiences.  Shanna earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Lesley University and a Master of Education in Early Childhood Studies from Lesley University.
